In my opinion, the difference between a selfie and a self portrait is the style, seriousness, and the quality of the images. The "Selfie" has low quality from a smart phone that is simple, but, the self portrait has meaning and a story behind it, well edited and clearly took time and effort to produce the image, having interesting lighting and style making for a much more well put together photo than just a "Selfie"
